Tick Tock Tick Tock

It was one of those nights when sleep was evading me. It rarely happens, but yes it was happening yesterday night. I tried all tricks to fall asleep.

1. Counted sheep, jumping over the fence. Some of them even started looking like Usain Bolt & P.T. Usha. I must have counted at least a 2000 sheep, all of them merrily mocking at me.
2. Guzzled warm Milk.
3. Tried to relax my body from head to toe (Yoga style).
4. Pretended to sleep so my brain was fooled in to it.
5. Squirmed in to a comfortable position on the bed (this meant pushing hubby near the edge).

Nothing worked. I was a walking zombie... (Quirky, this is entirely your fault).

The bed felt too warm, so I threw off the covers. For a while, I thought, yes babes this will do the trick but I was freezing in sometime. This dance continued for a while. I was frustrated and the tossing and turning was not helping much. The blasted alarm clock became my nemesis. Every tick and tock was hammering in my brain. I could clearly hear every movement of the seconds hand as it merrily went tick, tick, tick.

In that sleepless state, even the minutest of sounds send shiver down your spine and you become rigid with anxiety. Even the normal sounds in your house become exponentially loud. The gurgling of the refrigerator, the dripping faucet and that damned clock. I wanted to throw it out of the window.

All I was wanted was to rest my brain and slobber over my pillow without a care.

I aM Dawg Tiredz

After endless hours of sleep deprivation, I finally fell asleep in the wee hours of the morning.

In the morning, hubs came to me and said " looks like someone slept really well, I heard you snoring away to glory".

P.S: I stopped myself from getting the kitchen knife, I remembered, that he is the love of my life.

  1. LOL..have u heard of ear muffs,LP?hehehe..my interpretation of a sleepless night(if you're not stressed out) is that one didn't have any work to do during the day..so,the ennui passes on to sleep time. You need to see one of our News Channels at such a time..sleep comes auto..and,if you have DD1 and Krishi Darshan is on,voila...:)

  2. The last line takes the cake!!! Seriously husband's can be no make it are blind!! Yesterday when I went off to sleep I told mine that will be getting up late and won't make tiffin. I got up at 7:40 woke him up. Now at 8ish he comes all ready and says tiffin? I was like how do u expect me to make tiffin in 15 mins?? Grrr!!!

As a kid when I used to go through such sleepless nights I had my own ways to tackle them. I have been a big Slman fan and Main Pyaar kiya ke dialogues I remember by heart, so I would start thinking about the movie muttering the dialogues mann hi mann main after some time tiredness would seep in & I wud be asleep :) hehe

Smita: Ha! husbands think we are magicians. I guess we pamper them too much :)

Salman Khan...r u still a fan? I loved 'Maine Pyar Kiya' when I was younger. I can't stand him anymore.

Quirky : Heheh I knew it , the word zombie will make you weak in the knees. BTW your blog is fantabulous. It will be a sacrileage to even think like that about it.
